Ferie is the Norwegian word for “holiday”—a time to rest, recharge, and feel completely at ease. That word stuck with me because it captures exactly how I want people to feel in the spaces I design.
To me, good design isn’t just about aesthetics—it’s about how a space supports your life. It should feel like a breath of fresh air at the end of a long day. Whether it’s through calming colors, natural materials, or thoughtful layout decisions, my goal is always to create interiors that feel warm, inviting, and effortless to live in.
Ferie Designs is built on the belief that your home should feel like your favorite place in the world—not just somewhere you live, but somewhere you love to be.
My Design Philosphy
At Ferie Designs, I believe that intentional design has the power to transform not just how a space looks, but how it feels and functions. My work is grounded in creating environments that are both beautiful and deeply livable—spaces that reflect the rhythms of everyday life and support the people who inhabit them.
Rooted in my Norwegian heritage, Ferie—meaning holiday or vacation—inspires a sense of ease, warmth, and restoration. I approach every project with that feeling in mind, blending natural materials, timeless forms, and thoughtful planning to create spaces that feel like a retreat from the chaos of the outside world.
Sustainability is central to my practice. I focus on responsible material choices, low-impact processes, and the use of natural textiles and finishes that are not only healthier for the environment but also for the people living in the space. From concept to completion, I design with intention—prioritizing longevity, functionality, and quiet beauty.
Good design isn’t about trends or perfection. It’s about creating spaces with purpose, personality, and soul.

About Me
Hi! I’m Marissa Sannes, the designer behind Ferie Designs. Born and raised in Spokane, WA, surrounded by the Pacific Northwest’s natural beauty, I’ve always been drawn to warm, inviting spaces that feel connected to the world around them. I am currently pursuing my degree in Interior Design at Spokane Falls Community College, with plans to continue on to RMCAD’s accredited online program for my bachelor’s degree, followed by SCAD’s program for my master’s degree.
Before launching Ferie Designs, I worked as a designer for two well-known home furnishing retailers here in Spokane, where I gained hands-on experience in space planning, product selection, and helping clients create beautiful, functional homes. That experience gave me a deep understanding of how people use their spaces day to day, and how smart, thoughtful design can make a real difference.
Design has always been more than just a passion for me—it’s how I connect with people. I love listening closely, understanding how someone lives, and shaping their space to feel not only beautiful but also personal and grounding. My style leans warm, layered, and natural, with a focus on timeless comfort over trends.
I’m especially drawn to natural textiles, sustainable materials, and earthy color palettes that bring a sense of calm to the everyday. Whether I’m designing a room layout, curating a moodboard, or sourcing the perfect finishing touches, I approach every project with intention, care, and creativity.
Through Ferie Designs, I hope to make interiors feel like your own little getaway—a space that reflects you, supports you, and feels like a place you never want to leave.
